A Confederação Nacional de Municípios (CNM) alerta aos gestores que a distribuição do material para o teste rápido da Síndrome de Imunodeficiência Adquirida (Aids) é gratuito, e seguirá o mesmo procedimento dos remédios. Os medicamentos são entregues para as unidades de saúde que realizam ações de assistência, prevenção e tratamento às pessoas vivendo com a doença.
A campanha do Ministério da Saúde sobre o assunto deve incluir a oferta na rede pública de saúde de teste rápido para Aids, sífilis e hepatites B e C. O resultado fica pronto em 30 minutos.
Segundo o Ministério da Saúde, existem hoje 530 mil brasileiros com Aids, sendo que desse total 135 mil, ou seja, 25,40% desconhecem a sua condição de portador do vírus. O levantamento mostra que a incidência da Aids no país, em 2011, foi de 20,2 casos para cada 100 mil habitantes. No mesmo período, foram registrados 38,8 mil novos casos da doença. Atualmente, 217 mil brasileiros com o vírus estão em tratamento.
Dia mundial de combate a Aids
Dia 1 de dezembro é conhecido como o Dia Mundial de Combate a Aids. A data serve para alertar a população em geral, mas com enfoque nos grupos em situação de maior vulnerabilidade sobre os perigos da doença e a importância do teste. O governo quer incentivar os profissionais de saúde a recomendar o teste aos pacientes, independentemente de gênero, orientação sexual ou comportamento.

Os números de novos casos de infecções por Aids caíram mais de 50% em 25 países de média e baixa renda, a maioria deles no Continente Africano. Os dados foram divulgados pelo Programa Conjunto das Nações Unidas sobre HIV/Aids (Unaids).
Os dados gerais mostram que o total de infectados no mundo com acesso ao tratamento aumentou em 63% nos últimos 24 meses, enquanto as mortes decorrentes da doença caíram mais de 25% entre 2005 e 2011. Dos 34 milhões de pessoas que vivem com HIV atualmente, cerca de metade não sabe que têm o vírus e, portanto, não faz uso de antirretrovirais.
