Em discurso de despedida na Câmara, nesta segunda-feira (15), o deputado federal Newton Lima (PT-SP) comunicou que não se candidatará mais a cargos eletivos, enquanto não for realizada uma reforma política que acabe com o financiamento empresarial de campanhas eleitorais. “Quero comunicar minha decisão de não mais concorrer a cargos eletivos enquanto perdurar o atual sistema de financiamento de campanhas eleitorais em nosso país”, afirmou o deputado, que não foi reeleito na última eleição para o Congresso. Em quase 25 minutos de discurso, Newton Lima fez um balanço dos quatros anos de sua atuação como parlamentar e dos governos do PT na presidência. Defendeu com veemência a realização “de uma assembleia constituinte livre, soberana e exclusiva para fazer a reforma política”. Segundo Newton Lima, dos 513 deputados federais eleitos em outubro, 360 tiveram suas campanhas eleitorais financiadas pelas 10 empresas que mais doaram recursos. “Isso corresponde a 70% da Câmara dos Deputados”, disse o parlamentar, que atribui a sua não reeleição ao custo exorbitante das campanhas eleitorais.
O deputado afirmou que continuará trabalhando pela democracia, pela igualdade de direitos e oportunidades para que o Brasil possa se tornar um país desenvolvido e com justiça social. Ele fez duras críticas ao candidato derrotado nas últimas eleições para presidente, Aécio Neves, chamando-o de “mau perdedor”. “Estamos vendo o mau perdedor, Aécio Neves, juntamente com parte de seus correligionários, numa escalada sem precedentes, se insurgirem contra o resultado das eleições e se engajarem em movimentos conspiratórios à procura de ardis que possam de alguma forma atingir a presidenta, eleita legitimamente”, afirmou.
Lembrou que os governos do PT foram as gestões que mais criaram instituições que investigam a corrupção e que 46% da população brasileira reconhece que a presidenta Dilma foi a governante que mais combateu a corrupção, desde a redemocratização. Newton Lima lamentou não ter visto aprovado seu projeto que teve repercussão nacional ao propor o fim da censura prévia a obras biográficas. “Pena não haver mais tempo nesta legislatura para que o Senado aprove o fim da censura à criação artística e intelectual no país”, lamentou.
