A Prefeitura de Dourado irá firmar convênio com o curso de Medicina Veterinária da Faculdade Unicep de São Carlos. O objetivo é a realização da campanha de castração de cães e gatos da cidade. O programa que será lançado em breve terá como público alvo animais abandonados e de famílias de baixa renda.
O prefeito de Dourado, Luiz Antonio Rogante Junior (PSB), que esteve reunido na terça-feira (19), em São Carlos, com os coordenadores do curso de veterinária da Unicep, disse que o acordo foi firmado e que faltam apenas detalhes para dar início à campanha. “Já faz algum tempo que estamos interessados em promover a campanha, estávamos apenas procurando a melhor forma de executar, agora está tudo certo com a Unicep, e em breve daremos início a campanha. Sabemos que algumas pessoas não podem arcar com os custos da castração, por isso estamos fazendo este convênio”.
Rogante também explicou como será a campanha. “Iremos abrir inscrições para população para sabermos a demanda do município, após um cadastro serão colhidas todas informações dos animais, para na sequência serem feitas as consultas pré-cirúrgicas, a cirurgia e pôr fim a consulta pós-cirúrgica, ” finalizou.
Para obter o percentual de animais de rua, irá ser feito um trabalho conjunto entre Prefeitura, Departamento de Saúde e Vigilância Sanitária, para logo depois serem feitos todos os procedimentos para a cirurgia.
A castração traz uma série de vantagens para cães e gatos: previne doenças, reduz a agressividade, reduz a agitação, acaba com os cios e gestações indesejadas, prolonga a vida, entre outros. Além de ajudar no manejo de animais abandonados, como forma de manter o controle da procriação na cidade.
