Quilombo dos Palmares ganha selo

Entrou em circulação na segunda-feira (19/11)  a emissão especial dos Correios em homenagem ao Parque Memorial Quilombo dos Palmares, primeiro e único parque temático sobre a cultura negra do Brasil. A cerimônia oficial de lançamento acontecerá na terça-feira (20/11), Dia da Consciência Negra, no município da União dos Palmares (AL), onde estava localizado o Quilombo, ícone da resistência à escravidão.

Milhares de escravos negros rebelados fugiram para a Serra da Barriga (AL) durante o período de dominação holandesa. Fundado em 1590, o Quilombo de Palmares funcionava como um Estado autônomo, que chegou a abrigar mais de 20 mil pessoas e resistiu por quase cem anos aos ataques holandeses, luso-brasileiros e de bandeirantes paulistas.

 

Palmares foi totalmente destruído em 1696, um ano depois que Zumbi, seu líder, foi morto pelo bandeirante Domingos Jorge Velho. Para que a história não se perdesse, no Parque Memorial foram reconstituídas algumas das mais significativas edificações do Quilombo.

 

Selo e cartão postal – Com arte de Luciomar de Jesus, a emissão inclui selo no valor de R$ 1,20 e cartão postal, ambos retratando o parque. As peças têm tiragem de 300 mil e 3 mil unidades, respectivamente, e, após o lançamento, poderão ser adquiridas na loja virtual, nas agências dos Correios e por meio da Central de Vendas à Distância -centralvendas@correios.com.br.

As peças apresentam pintura ilustrativa da Muxima de Palmares (Coração de Palmares), onde ser reunia conselho deliberativo do Quilombo, e da Onjo Cruzambê (Casa do Campo Santo), espaço religioso, ladeado por duas figuras femininas, representando as práticas espirituais de matriz africana.
