A jovem Beatriz Carvalho Santos, de 13 anos, mora em Ribeirão Bonito e sofre de um mal chamado ESCLEROSE MÚLTIPLA G35. Esta doença lhe limitou os movimentos e tem lhe causado sérios problemas de locomoção, além de comprometer suas necessidades básicas já que é uma adolescente em pleno desenvolvimento. Atualmente, Bia está fazendo tratamento via Sistema Único de Saúde (depois de encaminhamento da Santa Casa de São Carlos) no Hospital São Paulo da UNIFESP na capital.
Recentemente, foi realizada uma campanha que contou com o apoio de queridos amigos da imprensa de São Carlos e região onde a Bia conseguiu ganhar uma cadeira de rodas, uma de banho, fraldas tamanho G (para dois meses) e cestas básicas. Entretanto, a paciente e sua família não podem ser esquecidos e precisam de muito suporte nessa caminhada de tratamento, inclusive de novas doações de fraldas e outros utensílios e medicamentos.
A reportagem apurou que Bia precisa de lenços umedecidos e pomadas para assaduras, pois perdeu a sensibilidade de fazer suas necessidades e isso pode acarretar em problemas, além disso a garota tem uma alergia no corpo e o uso de roupas apertadas incomodam, sendo assim ela necessita de roupas frescas e largas, como por exemplo: pijamas, conjuntinhos no número 16. Sem contar, a ajuda financeira, afinal a família tem muitos gastos com esse tratamento, sem contar os remédios e todo o processo de tratamento que ainda há pela frente.
Em Ribeirão Bonito foi criada uma campanha de doação por meio de caixinhas no comércio local (só a família da Bia pode abrir as caixinhas) que visa arrecadar fundos para o tratamento da menina. As caixinhas estão nos seguintes pontos:
