A proposta foi rejeitada por 430 votos a favor, 9 contrários e 2 abstenções

A pressão das manifestações populares das últimas semanas, em todo o país, resultou nesta terça-feira (25) na derrubada da Proposta de Emenda à Constituição (PEC) 37, que limitava os poderes de investigação do Ministério Público. Aprovada na Comissão de Constituição e Justiça e na comissão especial que analisou o mérito, a proposta foi rejeitada por 430 votos a favor, 9 contrários e 2 abstenções. Com a rejeição, a PEC vai ao arquivo.
Logo após a rejeição da PEC, as centenas de pessoas que acompanharam a sessão das galerias da Câmara, cantaram um trecho do Hino Nacional. Os manifestantes, em sua maioria representantes do Ministério Público e agentes da Polícia Federal, aplaudiram todos os encaminhamentos favoráveis à rejeição da proposta.
A derrubada da PEC 37 era uma das principais bandeiras dos movimentos populares que têm tomado às ruas de várias cidades brasileiras e do exterior. Por definir que o poder de investigação criminal seria restrito às policias Federal e Civil, a proposta foi considerada como “PEC da impunidade”.
Por duas vezes, o presidente da Câmara, deputado Henrique Eduardo Alves (PMDB-RN), apelou para que a rejeição fosse unânime a fim de que a Casa ficasse em sintonia com o clamor das ruas. Autor da PEC, o deputado Lourival Mendes (PTdoB-MA) foi o único a defender a aprovação da proposta. Segundo ele, “um erro de percurso”, em referência às manifestações, fez com que a PEC fosse considerada “nefasta”.
