Lixo urbano: um problema grave e invisível ao público

Com grande promiscuidade, geralmente em locais pouco visíveis aos moradores, os lixões estão próximos às cidades, com cheiro forte e desagradável, resíduos de toda natureza. De pensar é um rejeito social, de ver é repugnante.
Nos lixões, há diariamente descargas de muitas toneladas de lixo. Em Belo Horizonte, por exemplo, são descarregadas 2,7 mil toneladas; no Rio de Janeiro 3,2 mil toneladas; em São Paulo 15 mil toneladas, no Brasil estima que são recolhidos 100 mil tonelados por dia. (dezembro de 2009)
É o mundo de esperança de alguns miseráveis revirando sacos plásticos a procura de coisas que possam ter valor. Chorume infiltrando na terra contaminando, com certeza, os lençóis de água.
São raras as cidades que possuem aterros sanitários e o lixo é jogado aleatoriamente sem os devidos cuidados. E quando tem aterros sanitários, como saber se eles são confiáveis? Quem vai inspecionar e como, se a impermeabilização foi construída de maneira correta e se está atendendo depois de coberta com resíduos?
Lixões e Aterros sanitários;
O que é lixo?;
Descarte um problema cultural que vem de gerações;
Não há coleta seletiva se o descarte não for seletivo;
Compostagens.
1 – Lixões e Aterros sanitários
Os lixões comuns e aterros sanitários tem sido o motivo de desvio dos bons costumes a atender necessidades de crianças carentes, curiosas, em busca de uma novidade qualquer, um brinquedo inédito ou algo ilusório.
Tem sido uma escola oferecendo um aprendizado promíscuo, indesejável, disponível a ingênuos e supostos responsáveis pelo futuro do país. Crianças desprotegidas, vitimas do infortúnio, possíveis discípulos da promiscuidade ou candidatos a farrapos humanos.
Há quem disputa com os urubus restos de comida, e o mais chocante, é que nos lixões das grandes cidades, com certa freqüência, são encontrados cadáveres envoltos em sacos plásticos.
Isso é uma desgraça pública? É uma calamidade? Seres humanos sendo descartados em lixões das grandes cidades? Para muita gente isso é inacreditável, mas é uma realidade mostrada pela televisão. É uma realidade lamentável e invisível aos olhos da população. Não é evidente ao público e o problema tem sido um dos maiores desafios para as administrações publicas.
2 – O que é lixo?
Segundo definição buscada na internet, “Resíduo ou lixo, é qualquer material considerado inútil, supérfluo, e/ou sem valor, gerado pela atividade humana, e a qual precisa ser eliminada. É qualquer material cujo proprietário elimina, deseja eliminar, ou necessita eliminar”.
São resultantes da atividade domestica e comercial. A sua composição varia de população para população. Vai depender da situação sócio-econômica e das condições e hábitos de vida de cada um. Podem ser classificados das seguintes maneiras:
Matéria orgânica: Restos de comida, da sua preparação e limpeza… .
Papel e papelão: Jornais, revistas, caixas e embalagens…
.
Plásticos: Garrafas, garrafões, frascos, embalagens, boiões, etc.
Vidro: Garrafas, frascos, copos, etc.
Metais: Latas.Outros: Roupas, borracha, madeira, óleos de cozinha e óleos de motor e resíduos informáticos…
Existem também alguns tipos de resíduos que são denominados tóxicos. Que necessitam de um destino especial para que não contaminem o ambiente, como aerosóis vazios, Plilhas e baterias, lâmpadas fluorescentes, restos de medicamentos, lixo hospitalar etc.
Sem considerar os resíduos, que precisam de destino especial, que representam uma percentagem muito pequena em ralação ao volume que vai para os lixões ou aterros, e que precisam de destino especial, como os tóxicos e hospitalares, é fácil entender que papel não é lixo, lata (metais) não é lixo, plásticos não são lixos etc. Esses são materiais recicláveis, tem valor, e segundo a definição, não é inútil, além de oferecer oportunidades para ‘catadores’ ganhar alguns trocados.
Contudo se misturar esses materiais com resíduos orgânicos, ai sim, tudo vira lixo.
Se entendermos essa discriminação, vamos facilmente perceber que o problema está relacionado com o nosso procedimento, com a nossa maneira de tratar os resíduos, e que descartamos coisas que deveríamos aproveitar para outros fins.
3 – Descarte um problema cultural que vem de gerações
Quase sempre, as pessoas é quem faz o lixo, porque o costume não é descarte seletivo, porque não tiveram esse tipo de orientação, porque não aprenderam com os ancestrais. Então por falta de cuidado no descarte misturam os recicláveis com orgânicos.
Esse é o ponto crucial, é a chave, é o provável motivo de tanto lixo na natureza. É o resultado de um aprendizado de milhares de anos e que gerou hábitos arraigados misturando os orgânicos com qualquer coisa a ser descartada que não precisa ser lixo.
A população do planeta aumentou, novas tecnologias surgiram, hábitos de consumo alteraram, mas o modo de descartar os resíduos continuou sem alteração. Essa é uma verdade comprovada com o resultado das milhares de toneladas descartadas diariamente. Situação que só vai mudar quando mudarmos nossos hábitos no descarte.
O Sistema que adotamos é que determina os resultados.
4 – Não há coleta seletiva se o descarte não for seletivo
Infelizmente não tem visto, por parte das instituições governamentais, escolas e a própria imprensa, indicação para a sociedade como fazer o descarte de resíduos da maneira correta e conveniente, e quando diz, tem sido de modo que não atinge o essencial da questão.
Na maioria das escolas, shoping’s, locais públicos de grande movimento, normalmente existem recipientes para coleta seletiva com indicação para: papéis, vidros, plásticos, metais etc.; mas se verificarmos, na maioria desses locais, vamos entender que muita gente ainda não seguem as indicações para o destino correto do que descartam. Desse modo, podemos constatar que não haverá coleta seletiva porque o descarte dos materiais foi totalmente aleatório. Tudo misturado.
Grande maioria dos jovens, infelizmente, ainda não adquiriu a consciência para a necessidade de evitar a formação de lixo.Caso haja esforços no sentido de orientar as crianças de hoje para procedimentos mais aprimorados, com expectativa de mais cuidado com a natureza, com formação de mentalidades voltadas para o aproveitamento dos orgânicos em compostagens, se ficarem atentos para o descarte seletivo como comportamento padrão, no futuro as próximas gerações serão mais gratificadas e a natureza provavelmente será mais generosa, as pessoas mais felizes, mais civilizadas e merecedoras do planeta em que vivem.
Cabem a todas às escolas e principalmente as de primeiro grau, onde normalmente são iniciados muitos hábitos culturais e que são também formadoras de opinião, dar mais importância ao assunto.
5 – Compostagens
Existem várias técnicas para fazer o composto orgânico dependendo do local e condições do ambiente: Em sítios, casas com quintal, apartamentos (condomínio)
Em sítios e ou Fazendas as compostagens são feitas quase sempre em forma de aterros e recebem, alem dos materiais gerados no próprio sitio, ‘resto-ingestus’ de restaurantes das cidades próximas que são usados para tratamento e engorda de suínos ou colocado para decompor. (ver compostagem em técnicas agrícolas)
Em casas residenciais, geralmente tem um quintal onde pode ser preparada uma pequena compostagem, suficiente para atender o descarte de orgânicos. Aquele material que é depositado na lixeirinha próximo a pia da cozinha. É importante que os moradores e quem faz o descarte para essa lixeirinha não deixe ser colocado nela outro tipo de material que não seja orgânico, como, por exemplo, plásticos, toco de cigarros, tampinha de garrafas, embalagem plástica de frango etc.
Em apartamentos, quase sempre há uma administração do condomínio. O espaço reservado para fazer a compostagem deve ser criado, pelo administrador, do tamanho proporcional ao número de apartamentos do edifício. Edifícios de apartamento em construção deve ser inserido no projeto área reservada para compostagem. O composto gerado poderá ser usado nos próprios jardins do edifício. Caso isso não seja possível, pode como alternativa, fazer um tratamento dos orgânicos misturando um pouco de terra, para evitar mau cheiro, e retirar diariamente para um local em zona rural onde exista uma compostagem (atividade comercial) que possa receber material de diversos lugares para decompor. Experiência de quem procede ao descarte sem orgânicos, indica que o material descartado é geralmente limpo e isento de mau cheiro, o que evita o ataque de animais e torna a coleta mais eficiente.
Os orgânicos representam uma percentagem muito pequena, mas muito útil para a compostagem e importante para não fazer lixo.
