Brasileira BUG é novamente uma das empresas mais inovadoras do mundo
Premiação é a terceira com grande destaque internacional que a empresa de Piracicaba recebe em menos de um ano e meio
O Fórum Econômico Mundial (WEF) anunciou no final da manhã desta terça-feira (27), em Nova Iorque, as 36 empresas mais inovadoras em tecnologia no mundo. No seleto grupo (veja relação completa abaixo) está a BUG Agentes Biológicos, empresa com 60 funcionários sediada em Piracicaba (160 km de São Paulo) e que produz e comercializa desde 2001 agentes de controle biológico com alta tecnologia. Esses agentes são em sua maioria vespas que parasitam ovos das principais pragas que destroem as grandes culturas. A BUG também multiplica outros insetos predadores empregados para controle biológico.
O prêmio Pioneiros da Tecnologia foi criado em 2000 pelo WEF e reconhece corporações pelo seu potencial em transformar o futuro da sociedade e dos negócios no mundo. É a primeira vez que a entidade premia uma empresa da América Latina. Já figuraram entre os destaques desta premiação o Google (2001), a Mozilla Corporation (2007), o Twitter (2010) e o Dropbox (2012) entre outros.
Os “cases” das empresas referência do ano 2014 serão apresentados na cidade de Dalian, na China, entre os dias 11 e 13 de setembro, durante a premiação dos congratulados do ano anterior. O evento também é o encontro de negócios global mais importante na Ásia, reunindo líderes das multinacionais top ranking e diretores executivos de empresas dinâmicas e de rápido crescimento de todos os continentes. Na ocasião, a empresa brasileira será representada pelo seu diretor financeiro Francisco Jardim.
Os Pioneiros da Tecnologia são parte da comunidade dos pioneiros e inovadores do Fórum Econômico Mundial. Estes novos campeões ajudam outros membros do Fórum a entender melhor o contexto futuro de como os negócios e a sociedade estão se transformando. Após a indicação, cada empresa permanece por cinco anos entre os Pioneirospara a troca de experiências de interesse global.
“O impacto da tecnologia continua aumentando em todos os aspectos da sociedade”, diz David Aikman, representante do Fórum Econômico Mundial. “A diversidade do pensamento inovador e de soluções possíveis que ele oferece é o motivo pelo qual líderes de todos os setores da sociedade estão interessados em interagir com as empresas laureadas”, completa Aikman.
“Muito mais do que o orgulho de sermos a primeira empresa do Brasil e da América Latina na lista dos premiados do Fórum Econômico Mundial, esta indicação é um marco para o setor de controle biológico natural. É o reconhecimento que consolida a importância desse braço de apoio da agricultura mundial”, comemora o agrônomo Diogo Carvalho, CEO da BUG.
Segundo Heraldo Negri, biólogo e diretor de produção da empresa paulista, as vespas e outros insetos produzidas nos laboratórios da empresa conseguem atingir um índice de até 90% de eliminação de pragas. “Com isso, os produtores precisam investir menos recursos em agrotóxicos, cuja composição química pode ser muito danosa à saúde da população”, explica Negri.
A BUG Agentes Biológicos defende institucionalmente uma mudança na cultura de controle biológico, muito focada ainda hoje no uso de agentes químicos, cujo mercado brasileiro gira em torno de US$ 8,5 bilhões/ano. “Mais do que uma alternativa eficaz no que tange à proteção das plantações e diferentes culturas, e cujos desdobramentos podem ser comprovados na melhoria da saúde pública, queremos que a ordem se inverta em termos de prioridade de uso. Acreditamos que o melhor pontapé inicial seja através do uso de agentes biológicos naturais. Empresas candidatas são nominadas pelos membros, componentes e colaboradores da entidade, e pelo público. Uma comissão de seleção, composta por especialistas em tecnologia de ponta e inovação, acadêmicos e investidores, analisam todas as solicitações antes de fazerem as recomendações para o Fórum.
