A Jornada Mundial da Juventude (JMJ) tem a participação de 355 mil peregrinos de 175 países. O encontro, que tem a presença do papa Francisco, vai até domingo (28) na cidade do Rio.
Divulgados há pouco pela diretora de Inscrições, irmã Shaiene Machado, os dados mostram que os brasileiros são maioria, em um total de 220 mil pessoas. Os principais estados de origem são do Sudeste – como Minas Gerais, São Paulo e Rio –, seguidos dos da Região Sul e Nordeste, com destaque para Pernambuco, de onde se deslocaram mais peregrinos para o evento.
Da mesma nacionalidade do papa, vêm em seguida os argentinos (23 mil). Norte-americanos (10,8 mil), chilenos (9,2 mil) e italianos (7,7 mil) aparecem depois na lista. A Venezuela enviou 6,1 mil peregrinos.
As inscrições para a jornada da juventude católica ainda estão abertas.
