Brasil é segundo time na preferência dos sul-africanos
Joanesburgo – Os torcedores sul-africanos acreditam que a seleção Bafana Bafana pode chegar longe na Copa do Mundo deste ano. Entretanto, caso a equipe nacional não corresponda a todas as expectativas da população, eles já sabem para quem vão torcer no Mundial: para o Brasil.
A Seleção Brasileira é a segunda preferência da grande maioria na África do Sul. A quantidade de sul-africanos circulando com a camisa do Brasil pelas ruas de Joanesburgo ou assistindo, mesmo que de longe, aos treinos do time brasileiro deixa evidente essa empatia.
Uma pesquisa realizada pela Federação Internacional de Futebol (Fifa) confirma a preferência. Dos mil sul-africanos que responderam ao questionário da Fifa, 63% disseram que vão torcer pela África do Sul na Copa e 11% que torcerão pelo Brasil. A Inglaterra vem em terceiro, com 4% da preferência dos entrevistados.
“O Brasil é o melhor”, diz o sul-africano Deryl Reddy Salles, que levou hoje (6) toda a família para ver a saída dos jogadores brasileiros do campo em que eles treinam diariamente, em uma escola em Randburg, na região de Joanesburgo.
Vestido com um agasalho verde e amarelo e levando a filha de 1 ano no colo, Deryl explica: “Quero que a seleção sul-africana chegue às finais, mas não acho que ela possa ser campeã. O Brasil pode.”
Além de ser a segunda seleção na preferência dos sul-africanos, a equipe brasileira é também a favorita ao título segundo a população do país. De acordo com a pesquisa da Fifa, 37% dos entrevistados acham que o Brasil ganhará esta Copa.
“Nós amamos o futebol brasileiro” diz Edwell Hesoane, outro sul-africano que foi hoje tentar ver os jogadores da seleção em Randburg.
Segundo Edwell, na época do apartheid – regime discriminatório que vigorou até 1990 -, a África do Sul não podia participar de copas do Mundo. Os sul-africanos, afirma, aprenderam a gostar de futebol assistindo Pelé, Rivellino e outros brasileiros jogarem. Por isso, a admiração.
Edwell diz que Dunga, ex-jogador e atual técnico da seleção brasileira, também é um dos responsáveis pelo carinho dos sul-africanos com o futebol brasileiro. Ele reclama, porém, do isolamento que o técnico impôs aos jogadores da seleção. “Eu só não consigo entender por qual motivo ele [Dunga] não deixa os sul-africanos chegarem perto dos jogadores”, afirmou decepcionado.
