Quando começa a oração cantada “Ave Maria”, a cidade para. É assim que funciona a comunicação de mortes em Ribeirão Bonito. A tradição, que sobrevive em cidades menores da região, segue, com algumas diferenças, mas o alto-falante não pode faltar.
Com pouco mais de 12 mil habitantes, a população de Ribeirão Bonito escuta todas as notas pelo sistema de som da Igreja Matriz, localizada no centro da cidade. Mas nem tudo depende dos ‘ouvidos atentos’, já que o obituário também fica disponível em um blogue.
O responsável pela divulgação é o padre João Francisco Trovilho Morales, de 62 anos, que conta com o apoio dos secretários da igreja. Segundo ele, as informações são fornecidas pela funerária local, que envia os nomes. A tradição já tem mais de 50 anos e não pode faltar.
Para o padre, que chegou à cidade há quase 20 anos, continuar com o costume é importante. “Vejo a divulgação como um serviço, não só de cidadania, mas como caridade também. Como padre, tenho o compromisso de estar presente na alegria e na tristeza”, diz.
De forma gratuita, a igreja anuncia todas as mortes, independentemente da religião que a pessoa seguia. Para garantir que toda a população dos arredores escute, os anúncios são dados até três vezes — uma logo que a informação chega, outra no meio do dia e, por último, antes do sepultamento.
Engana-se quem acha que as notas são gravadas e repetidas. Os equipamentos são preparados todas as vezes que o funeral será avisado.
Com um televisor, um leitor de CDs e uma mesa de som, o padre ‘solta’ a “Ave Maria” e anuncia o nome.
E quem mora mais longe não precisa se preocupar. “O pessoal liga aqui para perguntar quem foi que morreu, porque não deu para ouvir e aí a gente repete”, conta o padre.

Ao vivo – E a história se repete na vizinha Américo Brasiliense. A cidade, de 34 mil habitantes, conta com um serviço de anúncio um pouco diferente do de Ribeirão Bonito. Quando os alto-falantes apontam na rua, a atenção se volta ao Gol azul de Ângelo Fais, o famoso Pingo D’Água.
Há mais de 40 anos nas ruas, Pingo chega a anunciar por até 13 horas seguidas. Bem-humorado e sempre sorridente, o locutor conta que fica sabendo tão rapidamente das mortes, geralmente informadas pelas famílias, que a pessoa ainda está “terminando de morrer”.
Brincadeiras à parte, a voz de Pingo é uma das mais famosas na cidade. Com 63 anos, o locutor passa pelas ruas anunciando os nomes e o lugar do velório.
Existe, ainda, uma ‘crença’ que Pingo já teria gravado a própria morte, mas tudo não passa de uma brincadeira. “Eu falei em uma entrevista que já tinha gravado, mas a piada continua. Me perguntaram quem anunciaria quando fosse a minha vez, e eu falei que já estava tudo certo, mas era uma pena que eu não fosse ouvir”, conta. E Pingo deixa o recado: só vai gravar daqui a 40 anos.
Em Santa Lúcia, o serviço passou a ser feito também pelo anunciante. Antigamente, segundo moradores, o alto-falante da igreja era usado para o fim. Pingo D’Água também está presente com o serviço em Rincão, ele faz a ponte entre as três cidades. (colaborou Gabrielle Chagas)
